How to Make a Balance Sheet in Excel

Get Ready

  1. Open Excel and have a blank workbook ready
  2. make the following labels in row 1:

Set up the first Row

  1. Click in box C2 (the box right below the the "Balance" label
  2. press the '=' key
  3. click in box A2 (the box right below the "Money Owed" label
  4. press the '-' key
  5. click in box B2 (the box right below the "Money Paid" label
  6. press the 'enter' key

Set up the Second Row

  1. Box C3 should be selected. Press the '=' key
  2. Click in box C2 (the box directly above the one your typing in, it should have a "0" in it)
  3. press the '+' key
  4. click in box A3 (the first box in this row - in the "Money Owed" column)
  5. press the '-' key
  6. click in box B3 (the box to the left of the one your in - in the "Money Paid" column)
  7. press the enter key

Fill in Values

  1. put the values you want in the "Money Owed" and "Money Paid" columns
  2. to fill in the "Balance" column, move the cursor over the bottom right hand corner of box C3 until it changes shape. Click, drag down, and release. The boxes should be filled in
