Survey of the World for Early Elementary Students

Our aim is to promote a sense that the world is a wonderful place full of variety. There are many types of biomes and ecosystems, each with their own weather, elevation, and webs of life. They contain an astounding variety of plants, animals, and people. The people of Earth add to this stunning display of natural diversity. We will look at the products of our minds made manifest through artwork, tools, mythologies, monuments, foods, festivals, and many other artifacts of world cultures.

I suppose I should note that I'm neither historian nor teacher. This site came into being because we were not satisfied with the liberal arts curriculum at our son's public school (he's in first grade as I write this), so we devised an after school program that will allow us to go around the world. I've tried to make it such that if he's not interested, we can get through the basics in around 10 min. However, he's been interested so far, and sometimes asks for another story, or wants to look at more pictures, so we've spent as much as an hour exploring.
